With more than 10,000 people thought to have lost their lives in the disaster and hundreds of thousands left without homes, power or clean water after Typhoon Haiyan (known locally as Typhoon Yolanda); The Salvation Army UK and Ireland has launched a Philippines Disaster Appeal.
