The President of Newry Lions Club, Mr. Jervis Byrne recently visited Newry Corps, to officially welcome the new Commanding Officer, Major John Parrott.

During the visit Major Parrott was also presented with a cheque for the development of the new community programme soon to be launched.

Major Parrott had recently been invited to speak to the Lions Club, at which time he outlined the planned programme to it's members, under the Scriptural title of 'See I am doing a new thing'.   As a result the members of the Lions club decided to make a generous donation, and pledged their support to the work of the Army in Newry in coming years.'
